My buddy Gary wants some updates. Powdery snow sucks! Plow, shovel, and plow some more.
An enemy of the cottontail: the weedeater. Now that everyone has a weedeater, lawns and property are all perfectly manicured. While this may be pleasing to the eye, it destroys rabbitat. A rabbit needs very little cover to nest and sometimes it is surprising where they will decide to build a nest. That little bit of weeds around a tree or shed might have been just enough to raise a litter of rabbits out of but with the weedeater it is gone. Many people want their property clear from property line to property line leaving little space for nesting. I like a nicely mowed lawn, but I leave areas for my favorite game animal. My neighbor, Mr. Dinkleburg, hates me for it but Mrs. Cottontail loves it and repays me with little ones that I can enjoy starting the hounds out on. Add some old junk (right Gary?) and you have improved your rabbitat.

I'm lucky when it comes to rabbitat around my home.My backyard is a 1 acre strip of land surrounded on three sides with brush. It's a great spot for starting the pups.Once they start running I have to hit my other spots because I have a highway on the other side of the house. How nice it would be to live way out in the sticks with no highways around.Just Like Heaven !!!

I guess I shouldn't complain about powdery snow. Got blasted today with solid ice. Wife couldn't get to work for the 1st time in 16 years. Ok, ok freezing rain really sucks!
